The bus will take you to Rethymnon bus station, but you can get off earlier if you want, since there are a lot of stops in the town center, before the main station. In order to find the bus timetable from and to Heraklion central bus station, please visit the website www. ktelherlas.gr.

Rethymno has great bus connections to the whole island. There are buses runningthroughout the island from Chania, toRethymno, to Heraklion and the other

way around, leaving the bus stationalmost every hour. You will also find busesgoing to the villages and the south coast.Tickets should be bought in advance (not

on the bus) from the kiosks or the busstation (KTEL). The word “ΕΙΣΗΤΗΡΙO”,meaning ticket in Greek, is printed on theticket in Greek letters. This is pronounced "Eeseeteereeo". The bus route that you need to take is RETHYMNO-KYRIANA. The nearest “pick up” and “drop off” bus stop is at Pigi Village. 

Throughout the summer season most of the shops remain open from around 9am until late in the evening, Monday to Saturday. You will  even find many shops open on a Sunday.

Monday and Wednesday:                            9.00 – 14.30.

Supermarkets open at 8:00 and remain open throughout the day until 21:00, Monday to Saturday.

Many of the local Mini Markets remain open until late in the evening. They are also open on Sundays.

Every Thursday morning, a big market takes place on "Tessaron Martiron" square in the centre of Rethymno. Every Monday, a smaller market takes place in "Kalithea". You can find anything from groceries to clothing.

Banks are open from 08:00-14:30, Monday-Friday. The central post office of Rethymno is in Moatsou street next to the public garden. It is open Monday-Friday, 08:00-14:30.

The nearest police station is located on "Iroon Politechniou" square, south of the Venetian Castle (Fortezza), in the centre of Rethymno.
